AirAssist has tracked European air ambulances, police helicopters and rescue aircraft for years. From today it does the same across the United States. This release adds more than 2,000 aircraft and over 170 new icons, covering air medical programs from Washington State to Florida, from Southern California to New England.

The moment a dispatch call comes in, a HEMS crew begins building a mental picture of a scene they have never seen. Every scrap of information matters: the nature of the incident, the location, the weather, the terrain. But one of the most reliable and underrated signals is already visible from the cockpit long before the landing site comes into view: the traffic below.

You hear the thud of rotor blades overhead. Is it an air ambulance rushing to an emergency? A police helicopter tracking a suspect? Or perhaps a coastguard aircraft on a search-and-rescue mission? With AirAssist, you can find out instantly — in real time.

A little over one year ago, a new feature was added to the app: Major Incident alerts. Naturally, whenever a helimed helicopter is dispatched, a serious incident is taking place. Something that requires more urgency than a regular, ground-based ambulance crew can provide. These dispatches happen multiple times a day.
